Dryland

Welcome to Dryland, Home of the Carnies!

When I first read about Dryland, I didn't expect to find what I did.  I was told it was a desert, dry, no water, rusted ship remains, and so forth.  It was interesting to stumble upon a sand figure of a pregnant clown, and other Carnie fun.  I ended up having a lot of fun exploring.  Nothing tops being reborn from a sand clown.    It's also where I met a new friend, Oblee.  (I'll have to talk more about him, and his live music venues another time!)  This place holds a few surprises, and the art gallery is unique as well.  Visit, and let us know what you think!

From the Artist of Dryland, [Anita Witt (aniwitt)]:
A giant dried out lake, a parched and barren lake bed with hulks of old rusted ships, now resting on the dried cracked mud. A once desert island with decayed warehouse buildings which now holds a gallery. The surrounding landscape slowly being occupied by gypsies, carnies and tradespeople. This is Dryland, the new sim design by Anita Witt.

Inspired by the man-made disaster that is the giant dried out Aral Sea in Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan.
Once the fourth largest lake in the world. Now reduced to a pale (heavily polluted) shadow of its former self, by thoughtless and ineffective irrigation projects in the surrounding areas, effectively cutting off all major water sources.

PLEASE NOTE: For the best possible visual experience of the sim, enable Lighting & Shadows and set draw distance at 500 meters or more.

* C I C A *

Hi all!  This is a sim I came across when I read about it on www.juicybomb.com, one of my favorite SL fashion blog sites.  This is a really fun and adorable Sim, I've been back so many times.

I love the simplicity of it, and the whimsical charm.  The creator, Cica Ghost also has a store, selling a lot of the decorations, and designs you see around the sim.
It's all black and white, about a 1/4 of a sim large.  There are little houses, pathways, a place to sit and listen to music.  It's great for photography.  Everything looks as if it's been drawn by a child's hand.  Stick figures, cute little flowers, wind, clouds, butterflies and more.  My most favorite part of this place is the rain.  With the puddles, and falling hearts, it's really a must see!

This Way Traveler Begins

It's a new year everyone!  New Year full of hopes resolutions and more.
To start off the new year, I've decided, I'm going to be more committed to my blog.  I keep saying I want to do it, and then never do... well now I will.

One of my most favorite things to do in Second Life, is explore different Sims.  I'm always on the look out for new and different places, something fun and interesting.  If you have any places you find unique and would like to share them, send me a LM in SL, attached to a note card, explaining why you like this place to Abigail Erin.  I will take a look, and mention it in the blog.  If it's really fantastic, I will do an entire article about it.

Last year I found several sims worth mentioning.  I'm going back to my favorites over the next few days, getting more images, and details, talking to the sim owners, and so on, so I can create articles for them.
This was taken at the Water Reserve.  More Details Later.
